This free documentary takes a fair and open-minded look at the re-introduction of the gray wolf to the Northern Rockies, the friction it has caused, and the passionate debate it has stirred. The goal of the documentary is to address the issue of how man and predator can co-exist, in the hope of finding a balanced solution that addresses the needs of the ranchers, wildlife supporters, hunters, and most importantly, the wolves themselves.

I know some people find this kinda of stuff sad, and in a way its never nice to see animals eating each other, but remember, at least they aren’t farming each other and building massive butchering houses and turning each other in Happy Meals.

Each animal has to survive on its own, it takes only what it needs and the tides turn often, often due to human involvement and sometime just because nature wills it. Its the way nature works, and in turn, if you are religious person, the way God intended it. I, for one, love to see this stuff… what makes me sad is when people get all mad about mountain lions eating their pets or the occasional jogger and demand that the unruly beast be shot or trapped. People don’t seam to remember we are just animals too, and that we have unnaturally cultivated the wild earth to create civilized societies and modern human culture and we have assumed the position of the king of all the wild kingdom. There was once a time when the Humans were just another mammal, and we lived in competition with wolves, bears and mountain cats. With the position we have assumed in the world, it is our responsibility to look out for them now, to be tolerant and to provide them some rights to make up for the fact that we have decided to live as much as possible outside of nature, as we have become a society of greed and wastefulness, taking more than required to survive and often living beyond our means, or the means the planet we are blessed with have by chance provided for us. I don’t feel bad when wild animals make a come back and pressure humans, or the occasional jogger get swiped by a lion… I mean, its sad on a personal level for anyone to die, especially if by something as tragic and random as a mountain lion attack, but if you assume the right to exist as a human and fail to understand that you are living in an area that was once full of wild animals or is close to where, by some miracle, large wild animals still exist, you should know it, and you should be making a conscience decision to be there and share that space knowing you may be seen as food, competition or a threat if you by chance are lucky enough to come in close proximity with one.

I am just glad large mammals still exist in the wild… its damn miracle that we haven’t killed them all.
