Double Duece, Triple E…
Julie Veee was/is a crazy dude… I should know, I spent two weeks on a bus with him traveling eastern Europe when I was 16. We played Tetris, we played Soccer tennis on a nude beach on Lake Balaton, and almost died on a ferry wreck in the middle of a storm while traversing across said Lake Balaton, “the biggest lake in eastern Europe”, and played a few soccer matches too. Most memorable was against the Hungarian Youth National Team who was being coached by hungarian soccer hero Ferenc Puskas at the time. We got our butts kicked in that game, but we won most of the other games we played against other youth teams in Hungary.
I guess since my resurgence in participating in the sport that is largly resposible for shaping the person I am today, as well as the shape of my feet (thanks Adidas!), I am wishing I could go see the San Diego Sockers play the Dallas Sidekicks back in the hay day of the MISL… I never got tired of watching Kevin Crow and Zoltan Toth make it almost impossible for the other team to score while anticipating which combination of passing and juking would lead to the next amazing goal on the other end.
Its fair to say I was too young to know how good I had it… Mom, Dad, Grandma and most of all dear old Grandpa taking me out to those games season after season, championship after championship… I miss those times greatly… if I had a time machine, I would make a stop at one of those games…

OMG!!! Look what I just found on YouTube… try to remember while you watch this that they were the best indoor soccer team, probably in the world, at the time… its OK that half them can’t clap on the beat… really.
